The
Salsa Story
Learn
the story behind Otiska® Salsa and why some believe it
is the best around.
Why Salsa?
Salsa is the number one condiment in the nation today. Salsa
outsells ketchup. Millions of dollars are spent advertising
salsa and you certainly want to stay away from those "made
in New York City!"
New Mexico
is home to salsa and "The Chile Capital of the World."
Chile is grown in our fertile valley and studied at New Mexico
State University, and everyone in the area searches for that
perfect combination of ingredients that make the perfect salsa.
Millions
of people have developed a liking for salsa and other chile
products living in New Mexico and then can't find a comparable
product when they leave the area.
In 1997
a restaurateur from Artesia, New Mexico was looking for a
way to market products produced for and in his restaurant.
Salsa was the perfect product to market and make available
to everyone. There is more to come. More products, more ideas,
bigger opportunities, but you have to start somewhere and
this is where we start.
From the
land of Billy the Kid, the Chisum Trail, and Geranimo comes
Otiska®. This is where the Wild West really began, and
this is the heritage Otiska® brings to you. Originally
the recipe of the famous La Fonda Restaurant, Artesia, NM,
Otiska® uses pure Artesian water and fine New Mexican
Chile to produce a salsa you can't put down.
