About
Otiska
Learn
the story behind Otiska® Salsa and why some believe it
is the best around.
Named
after Mother, Grandmother, and Wife, Otiska is the given name
of Otiska Perkins who, along with her husband B.J. and son
Clifton Perkins, entered the food business in 1961. In 1965
they established the well known La Fonda Restaurant in Artesia,
New Mexico.
Today
the Otiska® Salsa Mild is the recipe offered to the regular
customer at La Fonda. In fact, all the Otiska® food products
have their beginning in this New Mexican restaurant.
The Otiska®
label reflects the mystique of the real Southwest. Once the
home to many New Mexicans, the hacienda set center stage,
and to the left the New Mexico state flower, the Yucca, stands
strong in the New Mexico setting sun. On the other side are
the hills and plateaus common to the state.
And yes,
there are many sunsets that are brilliant orange and red just
as shown on the salsa label. Otiska® represents over 38
years of commitment and development by the Perkins family.
